Slechte avond voor de Beneluxe vechters tijdens PFL Europe
Een grote avond voor de Beneluxe MMA scene die een al een wending kreeg op weigh in dag. De Belg Griet Eeckhout (6-4-0) zou het op gaan nemen tegen Mafalda Carmona (4-2-0), maar helaas haalde Carmona het gewicht niet. Hierdoor werd het gevecht gecancelled. Eeckhout liet het volgende weten op haar instagram story:
I will no longer be fighting tomorrow. My opponent did not make weight. We did not come to an arrangement >> fight cancelled. Some of you will agree, some of you not. I trust my coaches and the decisions they make. Thank you for all the support. Will keep you all posted on further fight news.
Als Eeckhout de partij nog zal vechten op een andere kaart is nu nog onduidelijk.
Op Fight Night vochten Lizzy Gevers (toen 2-0-0) en Mohamed Amine (5-2-0). Als eerst stapte Gevers de kooi in tegen Valentina Scatizzi (toen 1-1-0) en vocht een zwaar gevecht tot het einde. De judges gaven de beslissing aan Scatizzi via een split decision. Hiermee verloor Gevers haar eerste pro gevecht. Gever liet het volgende weten op haar instagram:
I want to thank @pflmma for the warm welcome! I feel really honored to be part of the @pfleurope team. I showed the world I am more than just a judo player. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to convince the judges!! I take this experience as a big lesson. I will go back home even more motivated than ever ! I want to thank everyone for the support, it means the world to me ! ❤️🙏🏼
En als laatste in de main event stapte Mohamed Amine de kooi in tegen ongeslagen Simeon Powell (toen 7-0-0). Het was een geladen wedstrijd en de heren gingen op social media heen en weer en kregen zelfs een face off video waar de heren ook heen en weer gingen. Helaas ging Powell met de winst ervandoor via submission. Hij had aan het einde van de 2de ronde Amine in een Arm Triangle Choke en toen de bel ging leek het alsof Amine was gered door de bel maar helaas was hij uitgechoked en werd de partij gestopt. Amine zei het volgende op zijn instagram:

I didn’t had a competitive fight for over a year and ringrust hits harder than expected. Nevertheless I came directly against the best in the tournament, in his country, in his town. Congratz to him and I wish him the best, our paths will cross again. I can make thousands excuses why I lost, but that’s not me. Losing is part of the game, we learn and grow. I never play it safe, rather aim high and never get there than aiming low and achieving it. The story just began… I see you guys next month.
I owe you… a knockout!
